PDS
A striped P with notes of Paul Rand, for Permanent Data Solutions.
Overview
Permanent Data Solutions (PDS) is building a suite of web3 apps and infrastructure, backed by some of the world's leading blockchain funds. Inspired by the legacy that IBM created over the past century with the delivery of its hardware and software products, servers, and storage systems - PDS sets a high bar for its intended impact on the development and proliferation of web3 technology via its own products and infrastructure.
The Challenge
The organization needed to have a logo that:
- Visually connoted web3.
- Was bold, legible, and stood for the company name.
The organization felt it would be nice to have a logo that:
- Had subtle notes of - or paid homage to - the iconic IBM logo.
The Solution
Mirroring the requirements above, I arrived at the Striped P having:
- Used a wash of gradients blending indigos, pinks, purples, and blues that aesthetically establishes the organization in web3 land; and created a 3-dimensional look with the hidden 'W' outline and shadow.
- Used minimal lines to create a clear P for PDS.
Inspiration was drawn from the iconic Paul Rand design by echoing:
- 8 bits (in a byte) = 8 lines in the IBM logo —> 3 waves of internet revolution = 3 stripes.
